AEDI talks saving, student debt, and the asset advantage with SavingforCollege.com

Thursday, May 28, 2015

Summer 2015 will be a busy one for AEDI, even with classes recessed until August.

We have research projects commencing in New Mexico and San Francisco, the CSA program underway in Lawrence, and some research developing in Indiana.

And Dr. Elliott and Melinda Lewis' book, The Real College Debt Crisis will be released on July 15th, at an event at New America.

We're excited about what this work will bring and particularly eager for the conversations about how we finance college, and why that matters. So far, the discussions we've had in relation to the book have been productive and enlightening, like this interview with SavingforCollege.

We'd love to hear what you think--about the interview, and, especially, about the book. Happy summer, and happy children's saving!

Today’s student loan system is in place because of a political compromise, and growing discontent with student debt may signal that this arrangement has run its course. While there are resources and organizations in place to help those struggling with debt, the time has come to consider a new direction for financial aid, William Elliott III and Melinda Lewis argue in “Student Debt: A Reference Handbook.”
